I wouldn’t be caught dead lying…or so I thought.
We all know that Telling the Truth is FOUNDATIONAL for safe, committed, and inspiring relationships, but 99% of moms I serve don’t let themselves tell the FULL truth. No, instead they withhold, water it down, or don’t believe it’s okay to say what they really truly desire.
In my coaching practice we call these “integrity glitches.” It’s like having 17 little holes poked in my kid’s Capri Sun. Instead of enjoying juice in a reliable container, these integrity glitches leak a sticky mess all over the sofa, hardwood floors, and barstools. Can you imagine having to bend down to wipe all that up? Ugh. Huge energy drain. So, the question becomes, where am I poking holes in my juice box?
Here are some subtle examples of not telling the truth:
- Swallowing my opinion about where to eat on date night
- Refusing help while I’m bringing the groceries in – even though I’m clearly wanting help
- Wanting a hot tub on the back patio, but minimizing it away with thoughts like “We can’t afford that right now” or “There are so many other priorities to put first”
Ladies, The act of simply ALLOWING ourselves to DESIRE what we DESIRE…is an act of love as pure and natural as
birthing a child. Telling the WHOLE truth, to ourselves, is the catalyst behind great communication, affectionate partnership, and even rapid business growth!
If you’re wanting to create safe relationships to grow your family, they HAVE to be established on the rock-solid foundation of telling the whole truth! Want to practice? Download these 5 journal prompts to practice telling the (whole) truth! But be warned, potential side effects include freeing up time & energy, feeling seen & heard, and getting MORE of what you want!
